Open Markdown is built to be private by default. This policy describes what the app does — and deliberately does not do — with your data.
Everything the app does with your files — reading, editing, converting, and OCR on images — happens entirely on your device. Your documents, their contents, and their names are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
File access uses Android's Storage Access Framework: the app can only read files and folders you explicitly pick. It does not request broad storage permissions.
Analytics and crash reporting are off by default. If you enable "Analytics & crash reports" in Settings, the app sends the following through Google Firebase:
These are not linked to your identity, not used for advertising, and not sold or shared with third parties beyond Firebase acting as our processor. The app does not collect the Advertising ID. You can turn the toggle off at any time.
Open Markdown Pro purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details. The app stores only a local record of your entitlement.
The app works offline. Network is used only for:
). Fetching these reveals your IP address to the image's host, like any browser would. You can disable this under Settings → "Load remote images".All app data lives on your device — uninstalling the app deletes it. If you opted into analytics and want associated data deleted, contact us and we will process the request through Firebase.
Open Markdown is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
